How To Choose The Best Health Insurance as an Employer.

Getting the best health insurance for your employees can prove to be a herculean task, from choosing the health provider to getting the right plans. Giving your employees great healthcare as part of their benefits can be considered a great way to improve productivity cause, after all, your best hands are worth protecting. Here are a few things you should look out for when picking a health provider in Nigeria.

1) Affordability: Getting good healthcare is great but you don’t want to dig too deep into your pockets. You need a provider that gives affordable and adequate healthcare at pocket-friendly costs.

2) Compare Health Benefits: Some HMOs may have better coverage for things like physical therapy, fertility treatments, or mental health care, while others might have better emergency coverage. You may need to contact the customer care to elaborate on all the Health Benefits that you may require. Make a list of questions you need to ask before calling the health provider so as to satisfy your curiosity.

3) The 4 Metal Categories: There are 4 categories of health insurance plans: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. As an employer, you need to know what categories would be useful for your employees. For example, an employer whose employees are mainly drivers would likely go for the gold plan as this covers orthopedic procedures as his employees are prone to road accidents. An employer whose employees are set up in office space would most likely go for the bronze and silver plan because the employees are not prone to high-risk accidents, upper management is sometimes placed on the gold and platinum plan. These categories show how you and your plan share costs. Plan categories have nothing to do with the quality of care.

4) Secondary Health Centers: Every HMO has a list of health centers that everyone under them has access to, you need to go through this list and make sure it’s comprehensive and covers all your employee’s needs.

5) Customer Service: No one wants to work with a company with a poor response time. You need a provider who acts fast as this is a line that has to do with life and death, any delay could be detrimental to the parties involved. Make sure to choose a provider who makes sure all your needs are met promptly and efficiently.

These are a few points to consider when choosing the right Health Insurance that suits you and your employees. Make sure not to go out of your budget as this would be detrimental to your organization in the future.
